Former Ajax Cape Town striker, Nathan Paulse has revealed who he thinks Kaizer Chiefs need to go after in the upcoming July/August transfer window.
Chiefs’ football manager, Bobby Motaung previously confirmed to the public that the club will be rebuilding their squad before the 2018/19 season gets underway, although will need to first find a head coach to take over the helm of the team.
In issue 1072 of Soccer Laduma, the crew gave an in-depth analysis of players that Chiefs could potentially add to their roster in the new season, however, speaking personally to the Siya crew, Paulse gave his opinion on where Amakhosi need to bolster in the team.
“Firstly, they need to decide on a coach because it is no use you are just going to buy players and then the new coach comes in with his plans and thoughts and he doesn’t want to work with half of the players bought and (the) half they still have,” the former Ajax striker said.
“Are Chiefs prepared to spend? In terms of where they need to strengthen, I think at the back. Chiefs need a quality centre-back.
“Then going forward, Chiefs need at least two or three exciting young players, players who have real star power, players close to how Jabu Pule was.”
“Whether or not there are players like that available, is down to their scouting network and as I said their eagerness to spend.
“In the PSL, if you are going to look for a quick-fix solution then one name that they perhaps can look at is Khama Billiat, Jali as well, but then where does that leave Katsande? Because (he) and Jali are similar players.
“I would say, Siphesihle Ndlovu from Maritzburg United, he looks like a really exciting player, whether he fits the Chiefs identity which is unknown, people don’t know what the Chiefs style of play is anymore, but he is an exciting player.
“Furthermore, Chiefs’ MDC team, there are a few players that look exciting but I am not sure whether in their current situation it would be wise to push a lot of them through. There has been a lot of hype around Yusuf Bunting, the forward.
“I think everything will be guided by their new plans that they have to make, what is their short and long-term plan, who are they going to hire (to be the head coach?),” he added.
