Moroka Swallows have been dealt a heavy blow with the news that defender Luvhengo Mungomeni has broken his arm.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns man has been a regular for the Dube Birds this season and could now face a minimum of three months on the sidelines after picking up the injury during the Africa Cup of Nations break.
Mungomeni will now miss the clash with Ajax Cape Town this week and could also miss a big chunk of Swallows’ second half of the season as they look to improve on their first half showing.
It also remains to be seen whether Lerato Chabangu will regain his place in the squad, having re-joined his teammates following his Afcon exploits with Bafana Bafana.
Some good news for fans of the Birds will be that last season’s top scorer, Siyabonga Nomvethe, is looking fit and healthy and could well make his return when they take on the Urban Warriors on Wednesday night.
