Ajax Cape Town will have t to look for a new sponsor for next season after MTN announced that they would not be renewing their sponsorship with the club when it expires in June 2014.
It has been a year of change for the Cape Town club, starting last year when the current owners the Efstathious bought out the Comitis family, and most recently a new coach in Roger De Sa being appointed to take charge of the first team.
MTN released the following statement on Saturday:
MTN SA will regrettably not be renewing its sponsorship agreement with Ajax Football Club when the contract expires in June 2014.
“As a normal business practice, MTN embarks on a review of its sponsorship portfolio. We take into consideration the alignment of each of the sponsored properties to business objectives and thus we not renewing the contract with Ajax,” said Brian Gouldie, the Chief Marketing Officer at MTN SA.
