Mpumalanga Black Aces have decided to keep Thabang Rooi despite the fact that the defender made just a handful of appearances last season.
The 31-year-old former Kaizer Chiefs defender made just four starts for AmaZayoni last season, but it seems as though he did enough to convince Clive Barker to keep him for one more season.
Rooi’s lack of game time at Aces had raised speculation that he could be on his way out of the club, but Aces Liaison Officer, Gordon Masondo, confirmed to the crew that he was staying put.
“Thabang is not going anywhere. We need his experience at the back, so we have taken up the one-year extension on his contract,” said Masondo.
Rooi joins the likes of Bafana Nhlapo, Zamuxolo Ngalo, Denis Masina, Onyekachi Okonkwo, Ryan Rae and Mbulelo Mabizela, who have seen their contracts being extended at the club.
Meanwhile, the futures of defender, Omar Hendricks and striker, Aleni Lebyane remains uncertain.
