Orlando Pirates ended 2015 on a bad note after losing 2-0 to Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Stadium on Sunday.
The Sea Robbers came into the game in need of some points after suffering a slow start in the league, but the loss means that they have now lost five of their opening 10 games.
However, Sundowns continued their recent impressive form by following up their Telkom Knockout success with a victory that moved them to the top of the league table.
Pirates midfielder Mpho Makola says that they will need to work on their mistakes to ensure they come back stronger in 2016.
Makola believes that they are playing some good football and creating chances, but their failure to convert those opportunities is being punished.
"We really wanted to finish the year on a good note but unfortunately that didn't work against Sundowns," he told Soccer Laduma
"We have to go and work on our mistakes during the break and come back a much better team next year. We will continue working even during the break because games start early in January," Makola concluded.
