Katlego ‘Killer’ Mphela has given the Siya crew his list of three players to watch during the 2019/20 season that has just recently commenced. The former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns striker also tips the Brazilians to win the league, which would be a record 10th title and a fifth under coach Pitso Mosimane.
In his own words, Mphela explains why.
“I like Augustine Mulenga, he caught my eye recently and I think he will do the job for Orlando Pirates”. Mulenga is off the mark in the scoring charts having put one away when the Buccaneers beat Bloemfontein Celtic 3-1 two weekends ago.
Mphela said Zwane remained a constant threat “as always”, and backed an earlier statement by Mosimane that the Bafana Bafana attacker is eyeing the most coveted individual honour, the Footballer of the Season.
“There is also the new Chiefs striker who wears No.9 – he is a typical old-fashioned striker who is always there, in the box. You can see by his movements that he will get chances and he is composed. I see him scoring a lot of goals for Chiefs.”
On Downs winning the league:“It’s still early obviously, but I have seen glimpses. I still think Sundowns will win the league because I know the coach and how he thinks. He knows the league and is always ambitious. And they have added a few signings as well to be strong.”
