Mphahlele On Sundowns’ Hectic Schedule
Mamelodi Sundowns are left as the last South African team challenging on three fronts this season, and their captain, Rama Mphahlele has faith in them.
Masandawana were drawn against Orlando Pirates in the quarterfinals of the Nedbank Cup last night, travel to the DRC this weekend for the CAF Champions League and are four points clear at the top of the Absa Premiership.
Mphahlele is now making a comeback to regular football again after a lengthy spell on the sidelines, news which will have come as a big boost to Pitso Mosimane.
Speaking to the media this week, “Rama’ said, “We have many games coming and we want to do well in these games. We have to play well against Vita and then come back and play Pirates and Chiefs, it doesn’t matter. These are the games that, as a footballer, you want to play and get involved in. Lets give it a go.
“Every game we play is a final. In the league we can’t afford to drop, in the Champions League and Nedbank Cup it’s a knockout. We have to set our minds to that.”
Meanwhile on the topic of this weekend’s clash in the DRC, the defender said, “We gained a bit of experience in the Champions League last year. We went to Mazembe and it was a very difficult game, it’s not easy to forget. It’ll be difficult in Kinshasa, we have to focus. If you want to win trophies, then you have to go to Vita and gets results and go to Pirates and get results.”
