Bloemfontein Celtic goalkeeper Bongani Mpandle says he is ready to start featuring in Ernst Middendorp’s side next season.
The 21-year-old net minder is number three in the pecking order of goalkeepers at the club, having signed at the beginning of the season from National First Division side United FC. He has Patrick Tignyemb and Thembalethu Moses ahead of him, but is said to have been doing well in pushing the two at training his first campaign at the club.
Mpandle was on the bench on 11 occasions in the league for Celtic, which could be a sign that he will soon be given a chance between the sticks. He has also previously been on the books of Mamelodi Sundowns, where he never got game time, and has a deal with Phunya Sele Sele running until June 2016.
He told the Siya crew, “This past season was a learning curve for me. The two goalkeepers I’m competing with are experienced and I’ve learnt a lot from them, but I’m ready to make the step up and come out of my shell now. I want to play next season.”
