Free State Stars take on the University of Pretoria tonight at the Charles Mopeli Stadium and experienced goalkeeper, Tshepo Motsoeneng, says he knows what is expected going into the run-in period with his team sitting in the relegation zone.
He said that their preparations have been the same for the last five games, and they aim to get as much points as possible.
“Our aim has been the same for the past five games or so, trying to get maximum points but with experience we understand that and our situation don’t really allow us to be comfortable. We make silly mistakes now and then because we try too hard going forward”, he said.
He also spoke of the caution the team should take going into the game, and made the point of trying to carve away openings.
“Should we go or the kill, that’s where we open ourselves up,that’s where most teams will hurt you. Why panic? Take it each game at a time, train properly and go to Tuks. If Tuks park, find a way around them, a point is okay. Don’t go for the kill when it’s not the time to kill, buy yourself time.”
Motsoeneng also spoke about the level of concern with regards to the mood of the team.
“Look, the mood cannot be great, everybody is concerned with our situation, when we do preparations the talk is about avoiding play-offs because play-offs are stressful.
The game will commence at 18:00 tonight.
