Mamelodi Sundowns coach, Pitso Mosimane, and Platinum Stars midfielder, Robert Ng’ambi, have been named the Coach and Player of Q-4, the final quarter of this season’s PSL Q-Innovation.
Mosimane’s Sundowns narrowly missed out on the Q-4 title, which was eventually won by Platinum Stars, after their 2-2 draw with Wits on the last day of the season.
However, the PSL still deemed the coach’s achievements to be worthy of recognition, choosing him ahead of Cavin Johnson, as well as Steve Barker of University of Pretoria and Bloemfontein Celtic’s Clinton Larsen, who finished level with Downs on 12 points.
Meanwhile, Ng’ambi was rewarded for his fine form in recent weeks with the award of the quarter’s best player.
The midfield man scored six goals in the PSL season, three of which came in the final quarter as Dikwena finally surrendered the league title to Kaizer Chiefs.
Due to their victory in Q-4, Ng’ambi’s club will take home the R1.5 million prize money for the second time this season, following their victory in the second quarter.
