Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane felt his side deserved more than what they got in their 1-0 loss to Kaizer Chiefs in an Absa Premiership match on Thursday night.
Sundowns dominated the possession stakes and controlled large portions of the match, but were poor in front of goal.
Speaking after the match Mosimane said his team played well, but the football Gods were simply not on their side.
“We deserve more than what we got, but that is the game of football,” said Mosimane.
“We gave our best and the supporters can’t say we never tried.
“We played against a good team, but the football Gods were not with us.
“Teko hit the post, it then hit Itu (Itumeleng Khune) on the back and normally that would go in, Anthony (Laffor) missed a header on the goalline, Cuthbert (Malajila) missed a chance on the goalline, Itu saved an amazing shot from Alje (Schut) on the bicycle-kick.
“We gave our best and we kept them in one half, we didn’t play against a small team, but unfortunately we couldn’t win.
“Sometimes you give your best and your best is not good enough.”
