Despite his side’s impressive 4-0 thumping of Bloemfontein Celtic in a Telkom Knockout Last 16 match on Sunday, Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane still moaned about the quality of the pitch and felt his side could have played better.
“We did what we had to do,” said Mosimane.
“I am happy that we came to Bloemfontein and scored goals. But the pitch is bad and didn’t allow us to play.
“We wanted to pass the ball more often and have a free-flowing game, but we couldn’t get it going.
“I think we need a better pitch to play for both teams.”
Still, Mosimane was happy with his boys performance.
“The boys played well today,” added Mosimane.
“The first 15-20 minutes we played the cup way, we played ugly, but we had to do that to get the job done.
“Our ball recovery was very good and we never game them space to play.
“I am happy that Khama is scoring goals, he deserves to score goal, he is not only a player that looks good on the ball.
“But it is a long journey, this is only one round.”
