It was confirmed earlier today that the 24-year-old will be joining Matsatsantsa in July when his contract in Pietermaritzburg comes to an end, with him having decided that the time is right to move on.
However, despite the fact that Morton’s Maritzburg exit is imminent, he says that he will not give any less for his current club, and will be meeting Steve Komphela in order to reiterate that point to them.
Speaking to the Siya crew Morton said, “I’ve never not given 120% on the field for Maritzburg, and that’s not going to change. I hope that the club don’t think that I won’t be committed to them for the rest of the season and committed to keeping them in the PSL.
“I’m happy to have agreed with SuperSport, but that doesn’t mean I’ll be giving anything less for Maritzburg. I’ll actually be having a word with the coach over the next few days just to make sure that he knows that.”
Morton, who has played for Orlando Pirates and Wits in the past, has been a consistent performer for Maritzburg since joining the club and will be sorely missed when he does make the move to Tshwane in July.
