Moroka Swallows have confirmed that they have decided against taking the one-year option on Darren Lurie’s contract.
The 22-year-old striker made just two substitute appearances last season and failed to find the back of the net on those occasions.
Swallows coach, Zeca Marques, confirmed to the Siya crew that the Johannesburg-born striker has been released.
“Yes, it’s true that we have let Lurie go,” said Marques.
As reported by the crew earlier, Lurie is currently training with Mpumalanga Black Aces to try and earn himself a contract.
Meanwhile, Swallows have added Kaizer Chiefs duo Lucky Baloyi and Philani Cele to their squad as part of a swap deal that saw left back Levy Mokgothu going the other way.
