Wits midfielder, Bryce Moon, has been ordered to pay a R60 000 fine after being found guilty of culpable homicide, or face two years in prison.
Moon was in court because of an incident that took place in 2009, when he knocked down pedestrian, Mavis Ncube, with his car while she was out walking in Sandton.
While the 27-year-old was acquitted of murder, attempted murder, drunk driving and reckless or negligent driving charges, he was charged with culpable homicide and his sentence was handed out this morning.
According to reports, the former Bafana Bafana man will have to pay R20 000 immediately, with the other R40 000 being paid in installments. He has been ordered to pay the fine, or face a two year prison sentence. He has also had his driver’s license suspended.
It is thought that the midfielder is going to apply for leave in order to appeal both the conviction and the sentence handed down.
