Molekwa: Our Game Plan Worked

Molekwa: Our Game Plan Worked

By Soccer Laduma - Jan 21, 2018 09:01 AM
Polokwane City coach Bernard Molekwa believes their game-plan came to fruition following their 1-1 draw with Orlando Pirates.

Lyle Foster cancelled out Dominic Chungwa's first-half volley as Rise and Shine collected a point at Orlando Stadium on Saturday evening.

“I think the game plan for us worked well. We controlled the game better. I think we knocked the ball around well. We rotated it well, even the distances we managed to keep it well until they scored," Molekwa told SuperSport after the game.

“The only worrying factor is that I warned the players about concentration. I told them to concentrate from the first to the last whistle and at half time I told them to close Pirates down because they are a goal down and will come at us.

“Unfortunately, in split seconds they played the ball through our defence and it ended up being a goal. But I can’t fault the boys for the commitment they showed, it’s just communication that’s letting us down at the moment,” he said.

Molekwa also congratulated their counterparts for putting up a good display, where they kept them under immense pressure throughout the game.

“Congratulations to Pirates, they put us under a lot of pressure. So it was one of those games we wanted the three points, but only got one. I guess against a club like Pirates it’s not a bad point,” he said.

“I’m happy with the performance of the boys, we will build on this performance for the SuperSport game,” he continued.

At this stage, the struggle continues to find a balance between their offensive and defensive duties, with the campaign in full swing.

“It’s not I’m trying to look for goals only. I’m trying to find a balance (between defence and attack). When I work on it at training, it shows that it’s coming alright.

“It’s just in a game situation, you just lose it in a crucial moment,” he said.

If the truth where to be told, Polokwane City where parking the bus yesterday. they were scared of Pirates. Actually, they where not better than Pirates because they played like kids who are scared of the dark. Credit goes to the Buccaneers for that late equalizer by Lyle foster.
