Molangoane’s Failed Chiefs Move Explained

As revealed in issue 988 of Soccer Laduma, Chippa United have distanced themselves from reports regarding alleged signature forgery in the club’s contractual dispute with Joseph Molangoane.

The Chilli Boys maintain that Molangoane belongs to the club, while the player and his representatives are saying the midfielder’s contract with the Port Elizabeth outfit expired in June.

Recent media reports have accused the club of allegedly forging the player’s signature in the new two-year contract they claim to have signed with him.

Chippa CEO Peter Koutroulis refuted reports of alleged forgery.

“Look, Joseph belongs to us. He knows that he has already signed, but if any club is interested in Joseph they should approach Chippa United. We are open to any talks. We are open to transferring players to other clubs like we did with Xola Mlambo when he went to (Bidvest) Wits, and the striker (Edward) Manqele to Kaizer Chiefs,” said Koutroulis.

Koutroulis has refuted allegations that the player’s signature was forged. “Can I tell you something now? The other day I spoke to Mr Kaizer Motaung and the other day I spoke to Dr Irvin (Khoza). I said I will be the first happy man if one day the truth comes out. I’ll be happy if someone comes out and says, ‘Somebody has forged my signature or somebody has done this and that.’

“So far there has been nothing that has happened. I spoke to Joseph and said, ‘My son, listen to me now. First of all, don’t waste your time. What is the priority for you? It’s to play soccer. I gave him and his lawyers everything (copy of the contract) and nothing has happened after that. But to go to the newspapers and talk about other people doesn’t help anyone,” explained Koutroulis.

Prior to the transfer window deadline on Wednesday, the player’s camp applied for the matter with Chippa and Molangoane to be handled with urgency at the Premier Soccer League’s Dispute Resolution Chamber.

However, the application was dismissed and the player remains uncertain about his future. Although Kaizer Chiefs are interested to have the player in their team for this season, he cannot be with any team for now, until his contractual situation with Chippa is sorted.
