Young Ajax Cape Town and Bafana Bafana left-back, Thato Mokeke, was thrilled after putting in an impressive performance in his first showing for the national team against Mozambique on Saturday evening.
Mokeke was a late inclusion in Gordon Igesund's Bafana squad after Kaizer Chief's Tsepo Masilela was forced to pull out of the Chan 2014 tournament due to an injury. The 23-year-old was immediately drafted into the starting line-up ahead of Tebogo Langerman from Mamelodi Sundowns and did not disappoint.
In a statement on the club's website, the versatile player expressed his happiness at how things went.
“It was my first game, I think it went well and we got to win the game,” he said. “Personally, I think I did well.”
Mokeke is the only player from Ajax Cape Town that was included into Gordon Igesund's Chan squad despite the Urban Warriors boasting a wealth of up-and-coming youngters, and the former SuperSport United junior summed up his debut in saying.
“It is a proud moment- I am representing Cape Town and the team.
