The Siya crew can reveal that Polokwane City player, Moffat Mdluli, is happy at the club and is working hard at training to regain his place in the line-up.
This follows speculation that the player was used sparingly because he wanted to leave the club. He is currently on loan from SuperSport United until the end of the season.
The Soweto-born player has been linked with a move to Free State Stars and Golden Arrows, with speculation fuelling rumours that he is benched because the club decided not to release him.
The crew contacted Patrick Baloyi, the club’s PRO, who said there has been speculation and that there’s no substance as Mdluli is still happy at City.
“He’s still our player it’s just that he’s lost his place in the starting eleven because of new signings like Maluleke and Sibande. He just has to work hard and convince the coach. There’s no player who’s guaranteed a place in the team. I told him in December not to allow all this speculation to affect his game, unfortunately I see that affected him but he’ll bounce back. He’s a great player, a fighter and he’s training with the team as we speak.
“He’s one of the players I’m very close to and we always talk about life and football. He’s a dedicated player and I don’t doubt that he will bounce back and claim his place in the team. The rumours that he’s benched because the club refused to release him, that’s unfounded because he’s a SuperSport player and we can’t decide on selling him. We signed him from United, if the loan expires, he’ll go back there. His agent is also confusing the player, how can he sell a player during the season?
”If we want Mdluli, we’ll negotiate with SuperSport United. We haven’t entered negotiations with any player. We want to ensure that we’re safe from relegation then we can open negotiations. It’s premature to extend Molekwane or Kanyenda’s contract for example and then get relegated, that’s pointless,” added Baloyi.
