Bidvest Wits goalkeeper, Moeneeb Josephs, will set a new PSL record tonight when he makes his 410th start in the top flight, overtaking Brian Baloyi.
Josephs, 34, has played for Cape Town Spurs, Ajax Cape Town, Orlando Pirates and the Clever Boys in his lengthy career, securing his status as one of the best shot-stoppers of his generation.
‘Slimkat’ has won every major trophy available in South Africa as well as representing South Africa at U17, U20 and senior level since bursting onto the scene back in 2007.
Now, as he prepares to make his 410th start against AmaZulu tonight, the veteran goalkeeper says that it’s not all been easy.
Speaking to the Siya crew, Josephs said, “It’s all glory to God. He’s the one that’s put food on me and my family’s table all these years and allowed me to have the career that I have.
“The coaches I’ve worked with and the players I’ve played with have also all played their part, and hopefully I can keep going a while longer.
“The Almighty gave me strength and energy to go and put in the effort all these years, and I also need to thank my family as well, because there’s been a few rough patches in between those 409 games and they were always there to push me on.”
