The Premier Soccer League’s joint top goal scorer, Moeketsi Sekola, is being closely monitored by some of the big clubs in South Africa, according to reliable sources close to the player.
Sekola has scored 10 league goals for Free State Stars, so far in the 2014/15 season. He is tied on the same number of goals with Cuthbert Malajila of Mamelodi Sundowns.
The striker, who previously played for Roses Uniited in the National First Division, could soon be on his way to one of the big clubs in the PSL in the near future.
“Moeketsi Sekola has attracted interest from some of the big clubs in the PSL. The club (Stars) doesn’t want to talk about it at the moment. But I can tell you that the player is targeted by a few PSL clubs in the league for the next transfer window,” said the source.
Sekola will be left with one year on his contract with Stars at the end of the current season, as his existing deal with the Bethlehem outfit is set to expire in June 2016.
Sekola scored one of the best goals seen in the league this season, during Stars’ 1-1 draw with Orlando Pirates earlier this month.
That goal was followed by another strike from the Botshabelo-born player, against Moroka Swallows mid-last week.
The 26-year-old was linked with Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns earlier this season. The Siya crew will keep you posted on Sekola and his future for next season.
