Ajax Cape Town coach, Roger de Sa, has been relieved to receive news that one of his key players is available for selection ahead of their game against Mpumalanga Black Aces tomorrow evening.
One of the players making their way to the team is defender, Abbubaker Mobara. Inspite of the return to full training of a few players, De Sa remains wary of rushing them back onto the field of play.
Speaking to the Urban Warriors website, De Sa said, they have a few players coming back into the reckoning for selection and they are looking sharp and ready to play.
“However, I am going to play it safe with two or more of them as I do not want to rush them back into action only to lose them again before the end of the season. The players back at training are; Abbubaker Mobara, Toriq Losper and Travis Graham. Mobara is back in training and available for selection ahead of Friday’s game, he is in good shape. We also have Losper back at full training but I believe that he is a week away from full fitness. We could push him to be ready, but I think Friday’s game is too soon for him. We have cover in his position; I want to make sure that he is fully match fit when he makes his return.
“We also have Travis Graham making steady progress with his fitness and conditioning but we need to nurse back to full match fitness before considering his availability. Travis has been out quite some time and he may take a little longer to get back to full match fitness. We’ve got one or two niggling injuries but nothing too serious,” said the former Orlando Pirates mentor.
Ajax have players out with long-term injuries like Franklin Cale and Nathan Paulse. Although Cale is making good progress with his rehabilitation program, the return to action of a number of players in the next few weeks is good news to De Sa as they push for a top eight place.
The game is set to get underway at 20:00 at Athlone Stadium.
