Mnisi Heaps High Praise On OdG And Co

Since their promotion to the Absa Premiership two seasons ago, Highlands Park has asserted themselves as a force to be reckoned with, something that is purely accredited to the work of Owen da Gama and his technical team according to Co-director and shareholder Sinky Mnisi.

There has been talk surrounding the future of the 58-year-old, with PSL newcomers Tshakhuma Tsha Mandhivila said to be keen on his services.

Having led the Lions of the North to consecutive top eight finishes for the past two seasons- as well as a narrow loss in the MTN8 final to SuperSport United- Sinky Mnisi has got nothing but praise for the former Orlando Pirates mentor and the work that has been carried out along with his technical team.

“Owen has done extremely well for us. Look according to me, Owen is the fourth longest serving coach in the league behind Jomo (Sono), Pitso (Mosimane) and Gavin (Hunt) it’s good for us to have him. He’s brought a lot of experience, a lot of changes and the results of his sterling job is there for everyone to see. I think he brought stability to the team and we appreciate that. You’ve also got Allan Freese who has been assisting Owen, who has done very well in assisting the head coach, making sure that he has everything needed to succeed,” Mnisi explained.

With the resumption of the league now upon us, Mnisi has praised the backroom staff led by Simoné Conley for the work they are doing in ensuring that the players are fit enough to complete the rest of the season without any hiccups.

“You should understand that Highlands Park has been regarded as the fittest team in the Premier league and we remain that way. This is something that has been brought about by Simoné Conley and the other people behind her and she’s done a fantastic job. It’s not easy for a team to come from the National First Division and go to the top8 the first time and even went up to the final in the second season, now we are in the top eight and that speaks volumes about what the technical team are doing,” Mnisi concluded.
