Mnguni In Limbo
Orlando Pirates' development product Sibusiso Mnguni has found himself in the football wilderness after he squandered an opportunity to further his career at Chippa United.
The midfielder was loaned to Chippa at the start of the season to allow him to get playing time after being on the sidelines at Pirates the last time he was with the side.
But the player’s stay in Cape Town was short-lived as he parted ways with the PSL rookies halfway through the season.
The 23-year-old also failed to make use of an opportunity to rejoin Sivutsa Stars, the club that helped him to develop his game before his promotion to the Pirates’ first team.
A source close to Mnguni confirmed that getting a club is still a priority for the Secunda-born player.
“The last time I saw Sibusiso Mnguni he was in Mpumalanga. He played in some tournament there. Football is cruel and it seems things haven’t been going well for him lately. He kept himself busy with the tournaments held in December,” said the source.
Mnguni last had a competitive season when he played for Chippa during his first loan stint with the side in the second round the 2011/12 season while the team was still campaigning in the NFD.
Mnguni’s contract with Pirates runs until the end of the season.
