Former Wits midfielder Thando Mngomeni has started training with Moroka Swallows in a bid to resurrect his ailing football career.
“Yes, it’s true that Thando started training with Swallows. He joined Swallows this morning (Monday),” Mngomeni’s agent, Glyn Binkin, told Soccer-Laduma.
Mngomeni has been clubless since he was released from Wits at the end of the 2011/12 season, following a disappointing season in Braamfontein, which was highlighted by a lack of game time.
He spent time with Chippa United earlier this year in an attempt to revive his career, however was deemed surplus to requirements by the Chilli Boys’ technical team.
The former Bafana Bafana midfielder is now hoping to convince Swallows head coach, Zeca Marques, as he looks to land himself a new PSL contract.
Meanwhile, Binkin has dismissed reports that former Bafana Bafana midfielder Papi Zothwane has been invited for a trial by Swallows.
“What I can confirm is that we are talking to Swallows about giving Papi a trial, but we haven’t reached any agreement yet,” concluded Binkin.
