D-W-L-L-W-W-D, Micho Points Out Area Of Improvement

Following Orlando Pirates’ 2-2 draw with Cape Town City in their Absa Premiership match at the Orlando Stadium on Wednesday night, Head Coach Milutin Sredojevic has pointed out where the team needs improvement.

Bucs threw away a comfortable two-goal lead in the second half against City, to end the match in a draw as well as the chance to be level with Bidvest Wits and Bloemfontein Celtic at the summit of the log.

From Bucs’ seven league matches so far this season, it was only against Chippa United last month that Sredojevic’s team did not concede a goal.

While the Serbian mentor is refusing to blame the team’s defence or goalkeeping for the goals conceded, it has been evident from Bucs' matches that attention needs to be given on the side’s rearguard.

The Buccaneers have conceded seven goals from seven matches so far in the current campaign.

Speaking to the media after the draw against the Citizens, Sredojevic reiterated on the importance of defending as a team without putting pressure only on the defenders and goalkeeping.

“Carrying this badge and being (the) coach in this position, and us as the technical team together with Coach Rhulani (Mokwena) and the rest of the technical members, we are having more than that it is in line (with the) traditional style of life of our big club,” Sredojevic.

“We are playing football for scoring goals or this bring elements of risk that no team in the world could (throughout) the match just attack. You need to have perfect balance,” added the coach.

Bucs have scored nine goals and are third in this category in the league behind only to Kaizer Chiefs and Bidvest Wits respectively.

“When we look behind us we need critically to look to improve tightening not only at the back, because defence starts with our attackers up front so that we provide (the) element of a clean sheet that is slipping us away, unfortunately. It is an area where we need to work. We accept that aspect, and in times ahead of us we shall work in that regard in order to not being leaky,” concluded the coach.
