Micho: We Have Made Them Aware Of What The Pirates Jersey Means
Milutin Sredojevic Has Reflected On Orlando Pirates' Past Season
Orlando Pirates head coach, Milutin Sredojevic has highlighted certain improvements that the team has made following their disappointing end to the previous 2016/17 campaign.
Pirates ended off last season at 11th placed on the league standings, this before Sredojevic and assistant coach Rulani Mokwena were appointed to take over the technical bench.
The Buccaneers have made a significant and outstanding improvement this season, challenging alongside Mamelodi Sundowns for the Absa Premiership league title and booking their spot in the CAF Champions League.
Speaking to the media, Head Coach Sredojevic confirmed that he is happy that the confidence is back in the team, adding that the players are much more aware of what it means to wear the Pirates jersey.
“We are in a process, we are happy that we have (rebuilt) the team, instilled the confidence, made them mentally strong, to make them theoretically much more aware what the jersey means, how football looks, competitive aspects of being part of Orlando Pirates,” he told the media after their defeat to Cape Town City last month.
“We have looked to keep them, throughout the season, physically fit and technically and tactically effective. They are so many positives to pick from the season behind us.
“We have significantly outmatched last year’s result, 19 points more than last year when you look at that, it will be a much tougher season in front of us,” he added.
Pirates will face Free State Stars in the final Absa Premiership clash on Saturday, May 12, with the Bucs’ head coach revealing that he will be given fringe players some game time on the day.
