Orlando Pirates coach Micho Sredojevic sidestepped a question on whether their Absa Premiership title hopes had suffered a huge blow following the 1-0 defeat to SuperSport United on Wednesday night.
Talking to the media during his post-match interview, the Serbian mentor suggested that the Buccaneers were running their own race.
“First of all we are not thinking about anyone else except ourselves,” said Sredojevic.
“We had prepared ourselves very well for this game and we knew that one moment of brilliance could decide the game. We didn’t have a good enough first half, where there were so many turnovers (of possession) and we did not manage to keep the ball. We allowed the opponent counterattacks.”
The defeat was Pirates’ third of the season and – with only 10 games to go – left them trailing log leaders Bidvest Wits by four points.
Wits will host second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns, who currently have two matches in hand, on Saturday in a game that will go some way in setting the tone for the championship chase.
Pirates host AmaZulu on the same day.
