Micho In Line For Pirates Job After Uganda Exit?

Former Orlando Pirates head coach, Micho Sredojević, could be in line for his second stint with the Buccaneers with his Uganda post in jeopardy.

The Siya crew has been led to believe that ‘Micho’ is in line as a potential replacement for Kjell Jonevret if the Swede leaves Pirates before the season gets underway.

Sredojević had a stint with the Soweto giants back in 2006 prior to joining Young Africans in Tanzania, and it is thought that he is in the running to come back to the club should Jonevret be let go. There is also reported interest in him from Saudi Arabia, with Pirates unlikely to be his only option.

‘Micho’ was linked with the Bafana Bafana post recently following Shakes Mashaba’s departure, however that never materialised and he remained with the Cranes and led them into the African Cup of Nations.

The crew tracked down the coach, who said that his issues with Uganda stem from a non-payment of salary, although he didn’t say much about the future.

The Serbian wouldn’t comment on the link with Pirates, though did explain, “In the next 48 hours will announce what there is to do… Due to non-payment of salaries my contract with Uganda is null and void, practically not valid, giving me the chance to go wherever I want.”

Uganda’s football association have, however, insisted that the 47-year-old is still under contract.
