Mpumalanga Black Aces midfielder Clifford Ngobeni has hailed the team’s collective effort so far this season.
AmaZayoni have been the surprise package this season and have impressively beaten the big guns in Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs. Most crucially, they will have a say in the league title chase, as they will face Sundown in their next match on Wednesday away from home. Clive Barker’s side is on course to qualify for the top eight in their first season back in topflight football and Ngobeni says everyone has chipped in.
“I am very happy with what we have done so far. Not many people expected it from us. Everyone wrote us off, but we’ve gone on to prove them wrong. We want to be part of the PSL for a long time. It is the effort of everyone in the team, from the players right up to the bosses,” he told the Siya crew.
The 26-year-old central midfielder has made cameo appearances for the side this season, starting 11 games and coming off the bench seven times. It has been a miraculous change of fortunes for the former Ajax Cape Town star who was not so long ago in the centre of a contractual wrangle between Orlando Pirates and Golden Arrows.
