With his contract at the club expiring in June, Maritzburg United have entered into discussions with their head coach, Ernst Middendorp. According to a Soccer-Laduma source, the two parties are currently in talks regarding the way forward, with the German’s future uncertain at present.
It is believed that The Team of Choice’s management are disappointed that Middendorp failed to secure them a top eight place in the PSL, taking into account their impressive start. However, they did manage to achieve their highest ever points total in South Africa’s top-flight, earning five points more than last year.
The source revealed that negotiations between the club and coach are still in their early stages, with no reference to money having been made as of yet. However, indications are that the Pietermaritzburg-based outfit are keen to keep Middendorp at the helm of the club for their 2013/2014 campaign.
