Maritzburg United head coach Ernst Middendorp has finally put pen to paper on a new two-year deal with the club.
The Siya crew explained recently that talks between Middendorp and the Team of Choice were at an advanced stage, with an agreement between the two parties seemingly imminent.
Maritzburg’s chairman, Farook Kadodia, has now confirmed that the German will remain at the club. Kadodia told the Siya crew, “It’s all sorted, Ernst Middendorp will be the Maritzburg United coach for the next two years.”
Middendorp returned to the Team of Choice last year, after Ian Palmer was fired from the outfit in January 2012.
The German went on to lead the club to their highest ever league finish in the PSL, ending the season in 11th place, a feat that he went on to equal this time around, with an even better point tally.
It is thought that the Pietermaritzburg-based outfit are looking to do even better next season and are eyeing a place in the PSL’s top eight.
