Former Wits and Orlando Pirates defender, Thando Mdluli, is set to join National First Division outfit, Blackburn Rovers.
Mdluli is a free agent, having left FC Cape Town at the end of last year, and is not constrained by the transfer window. The Johannesburg-born player recently had a trial at Wits in an attempt to return to the Braamfontein-based side, although was turned down in his endeavour.
Mdluli was asked to stop training with Wits after the Clive Barker-coached side signed Thapelo Tshilo on a six-month deal. The 27-year-old has since told the Siya crew that Rovers are keen to have him in their camp.
“Blackburn Rovers have made enquires. I think I will go there to spend the rest of the season. I will go there and see how it goes afterwards,” said Mdluli.
Roses United have also expressed an interest in the player. Mdluli has also played for Jomo Cosmos in his career.
