AmaZulu FC coach Benni McCarthy has refused to get excited about their unbeaten run ahead of facing Golden Arrows in the KZN derby this afternoon.
Usuthu are currently in the second position, one point behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns and are currently experiencing a purple patch.
McCarthy, speaking about league title race which may be decided by other teams, says they won't be stressing about what happens to Sundowns or Arrows.
"I don't speak for other teams. I can only speak for me, for us, our focus is the game we play on Saturday That is where we put our energy and we mind our business. We don't care what happens to other teams," McCarthy said, addressing the media.
"If they win or lose, it doesn't affect us. We know what have to do, we just gonna focus on us, nobody else we decide our path. If we want to win, we know what we have to do, we have to go harder than our opponent. We have to run more than them."
McCarthy says against Arrows they have to show more desire and forget about their unbeaten run because in a derby such records doesn't matter.
"We have to show more desire and at the end of the day. The team that prepares the best and players perfom well on the day, that is the team that will win. Most of the time it has been our team and thats what I can contest for now.
"Golden Arrows, our neighbours, a derby we will have to go with that mindset. We go there to work hard and we won't allow any team to win, irrespective of our past results, it has absolutely nothing to do with whats coming on Saturday.
"Saturday is two teams thats gonna have same mindset. After 90 minutes (we) want to collect maximum points and thats what it is. The team that shows more desire, will come out top," he added.
The clash is scheduled for 15:00.
