The Siya crew can reveal that, if all goes well, former Kaizer Chiefs defender Fabian McCarthy could be coaching within the Amakhosi's youth structures in the near future.
McCarthy, who donned the Amakhosi jersey during Ted Dumitru’s reign when they won back-to-back league titles, has been empowering himself as he looks to carve out a coaching career for himself, having retired after a stint with Mpumalanga Black Aces back in 2011.
The crew recently revealed that the 36-year-old was looking for an opportunity to coach, or even play in an assistant coaching role, at one of the PSL or NFD clubs, as he works his way up.
Sources have since revealed that McCarthy has had informal discussions with Chiefs about possibly learning his coaching trade at the club.
However, when contacted about the matter, the soft-spoken McCarthy would only say, “No, I don’t know about that. But if such an opportunity were to come my way, I would grab it with both hands. I spent five years at the club and it feels like home to me.”
