As AmaZulu prepare to leave for the Princess Magogo Stadium for their game without Mbulelo Mabizela, the Siya crew has been informed of the player’s apology to the team.
AmaZulu are scheduled to play against NFD neighbours, Golden Arrows, in the last 32 stage of this year’s Nedbank Cup tonight.
Mabizela, who was signed by AmaZulu in January on a short-term deal, was sent off in only his second game for the Durban-based side for an apparent elbowing incident involving Alfred Ndengane of Bloemfontein Celtic.
AmaZulu’s communications manager, Philani Mabaso, has explained to the Siya crew how Mabizela apologised to his teammates and the technical team for his actions.
“Immediately, after the game in the Free State he asked for a moment, stood up and apologised to all the players and the technical team. I mean, it’s like your kid when he does something wrong and you want to beat him up. When he says sorry, you accept the apology.
"He (Mabizela) apologised in the change room, immediately after the game. He said, “Guys, listen, I want to apologise to the technical team and the other players. I’m sorry, I believe I failed you guys because it was still early in the game (when the red card incident happened).”
"So the guy owned up and apologised,” said Mabaso.
Prior to the Celtic game, Mabizela scored a goal on debut for Usuthu, against Orlando Pirates on Wednesday last week.
