Former Mpumalanga Black Aces midfielder, Mark Mayambela, has dismissed claims by his former team that the reason he was released by the club was because he allegedly pitched up at the club's training facilities under the influence of alcohol.
Commenting on his Facebook account, Mayambela said the reason he left Aces was because he wasn’t happy at the club.
The Khayelitsha-born midfielder also launched a scathing attack on Aces, accusing them of trying to ruin his career, but thanked the team for giving him an opportunity to play for them.
Here is what he said via Facebook:
“All of yall hv seen what Aces wrote and said abt me after I asked them to release me coz I wasn’t happy @ th club...and I know most of yall believe all what has bn said which is normal BUT u guys must knw tht I hv neva and wud neva du such a thing especially afta my struggles @ Pirates tht I over came without all of these kinda things and my situation @pirates ws far worse than th situation @Aces but I stayed calm and worked hard hence none of my previous coaches neva had a problem with me coz they knew and understood th situation...u knw, I respect myself and football hence I neva gave up and thru your support n prayers I managed to pull thru and overcame my burdens @ pirates! I'm not saying all this for u guys to believe but to knw th truth...and I'm not gona talk bad abt Aces coz thy trying ruin my career and of which they failed but I'm gona thank them for the opportunity thy given me but things didn’t work out th way we planned..
