Former Bloemfontein Celtic, Orlando Pirates and Mpumalanga Black Aces midfielder Mark Mayambela is in Sweden having trials with Swedish Allsvenkan side, Djurgardens IF.
Mayambela, a crowd favourite, left Pirates at the end of last season and joined Clive Barker's Black Aces this season, but left the club after making just one substitute appearance.
Director of Sport Bosse Andersson told Djurgarden’s website, “He is clearly an exciting player with a really good left foot. Now we get a good opportunity to see if he fits in with us.
"I am aware that he has been accused of having been drunk for a workout with his last club, Mpumalanga Black Aces, but it’s his word against their word in the matter.
"I've obviously had discussions with Mark about it before he got here and I feel confident with who it is that we've brought for trial games.”
“I’ve never been drunk for a workout and I really do not have any alcohol problems. That's just bad fiction on their part and is absolutely not true,” Mayambela told the club’s site.
