Mayambela Lauds Tebza
Mayambela Commends Chippa Coach
Chippa United’s Mark Mayambela has lauded his coach at the Port Elizabeth outfit, Teboho ‘Tebza’ Moloi, for his influence in improving him in his game this season.
The star midfielder, who has been an integral part of Chippa’s improved performances and form this season, says his relationship with Moloi dates back to their time at Orlando Pirates.
“I worked with Tebza at Pirates. From the outside, as much as you can say that I didn’t play much (at Pirates), he was there as the coach to encourage me. He didn’t have the power at the time although he believed in me and wanted to see me play.
“On hearing that he was going to join the team (Chippa) as an assistant coach, I called him and congratulated him. I told him that I was also joining the team and he was excited,” said Mayambela.
‘Professor’, who has been disrupted by injury on his progress this season, has been playing regularly and doing well under Moloi whenever he is injury-free and fit.
“When he (Moloi) became the coach he told me that he was excited about getting a chance to coach me again. He said at Pirates he didn’t have the power do things the way he wanted (because he was an assistant to another coach). He said he would use the opportunity to improve me to play the way I know best.
“As a player, it encourages you to have someone who talks to you like that. He is one of the people who has been supportive of me when I was injured. He has been good to me,” concluded the Khayelitsha-born player.
