Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana defender, Thabo Matlaba, says that the Bafana squad is strong despite only one of the Bucs players, in Kermit Erasmus, having been selected.
The omission of Orlando Pirates’ players comes as a result of the team’s involvement in the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League. The two legged affair will require all of Bucs’ attention if they are to progress to the final of the CAF Champions League.
Bucs striker, Kermit Erasmus, has been chosen in the 23-man Bafana Bafana squad that will take on Morocco in Agadir City on October 11, as the former SuperSport United striker is cup tied because of his involvement in the CAF Confederations Cup.
Matlaba informed the Siya crew that Pirates will require all of their players to focus all of their attention on the CAF Champions League semi-finals.
Matlaba told Soccer-Laduma, “All of the players want to be involved in the national team but we have an important task ahead of us and it is vital that we stay focused. There will be many more opportunities in the future but for now we need to focus on our CAF situation.”
