Orlando Pirates winger, Khethokwakhe Masuku, has for the first time spoken out about why he wore headphones after he was substituted during a cup game against Santos recently.
Masuku, who has since apologised for the incident, says at the time, he didn’t think that incident would turn out to be a big thing.
“In hindsight, it was really wrong of me and that’s exactly why I issued an official apology to everyone on the official club website,’ said Masuku.
“I took a quick shower at half-time after I was substituted, changed and listened to some music. Instead of leaving everything in the change room, I took it with me to the bench.
“Even when it was brought to my attention, I was like, “Yhoo! Sorry guys, I didn’t even notice I had my headphones on,” and I removed them. I even apologised to the fourth official about it because it was not my intention to show any form of disrespect. Like I said, I wasn’t angry or sulking at all. It was just an honest mistake,” explained Masuku.
