Masebe Qina Answers His Readers

In our weekly feature where you, the reader, can ask the selected journalist questions, our in-house Free State Stars, Mamelodi Sundowns and AmaZulu specialist, Masebe Qina, gets back to you.

Yesterday questions were submitted to Masebe from our readers, getting an insight into life as a journo and football as a whole.

Five random questions were selected, with our specialist sharing his thoughts.

Good evening ladies and gentlemen, it’s a pleasure to be back to share my views with you regarding football-related matters.

Q: Who are your sources at Sundowns and do you honestly think Sundowns have what it takes to win the league?

Submitted by: lobaz

A: Greetings lobaz. Downsbynature and Mbandazayo are my sources, ha ha, I’m just kidding man. Unfortunately, I can’t answer you on the issue of sources because that should remain confidential between a journalist and the person(s) concerned. I honestly think that Sundowns have a coach and the players to challenge for honours this season. I can safely say that I expect the team to win trophies, including the league. I have watched the team a few times already this season and I am impressed. Well done to coach Pitso Mosimane and his team on the good job they are doing.

Q: @Masebe, what is your take on the way AmaZulu have started the season and do you think this is Ndulula's season?

Submitted by: Ezimnyama_madoda

A: Ezimnyama_madoda Judging by your name I guess I have to greet you by saying Once a Pirate always a Pirate. Good luck for the weekend’s game! On a serious note, I am really impressed with the way AmaZulu have been playing this season. I have been following the team’s progress since last season up to now. I think coach Craig Rosslee and his team are doing a fantastic job. The new players that have been signed are doing the job. I know how the management of AmaZulu are passionate about the team and I’m confident that Rosslee and the team have their support. Coming to your second question, I have never doubted Drogba’s talent, since I first saw the player. He is a very good player and I foresee a great season for him if he remains injury-free.

Q: Mhlonishwa Masebe could you please bring back Banks Sethlodi's column, I used to enjoy reading stories 4rm the golden oldies. Lastly please tell Joe Crann to take it is easy on Kaizer Chiefs, we know he loves the club please tell him 2 take it easy ngathi useya speeder manje thank you Mhlonishwa.

Submitted by: mayaman

A: Holla mayaman. The message has been sent to the bosses to consider your request about the legend. About the second issue you are raising, don’t you think that you are being harsh on my colleague? The guy is just doing his work man. I will encourage you to appreciate his work. He is a cool dude and he knows his South African football very well. Please keep in touch boss.

Q: Qina: Why is it that my beloved Mamelodi Sundowns is hated by media (soccer analyst on TV, news papers etc) and most painfully by match officials: Celtic won a cup without scoring against Downs, our opponents are always given illegitimate penalties. Downs was robbed in Rothmans cup & the cup was given to Kaizer Chiefs. Please your honesty opinion is wanted here???

Submitted by: Ngwende

A: Calm down Ngwende hey, ha ha. Look, I don’t think there is any team that is being targeted/hated by the media. Maybe you disagree with some of the comments people make. Each and every person has his or her opinion my friend, and you shouldn’t be discouraged by that. As for the facts, I don’t know why you should say people hate a certain team when they talk about reality. I would rather reserve my opinions on the issue of referees. Let’s all appreciate what the players do on the field. Nice hearing from you man.

Q: @Masebe, every SL newspaper edition front cover page we only see Chiefs, Pirates and Sundowns players? Why do we have to read about only Chiefs, Pirates and Sundowns players on Siyagoboza? Please try to be inclusive that paper is boring. I support Sundowns.

Submitted by: VASRATE

A: Hi VASRATE. I hope you have the latest copy of Soccer-Laduma with you. If you do, you will notice that Mkhanyiseli Siwahla, Dominic Isaacs and Clifford Mulenga are on the cover. None of them are contracted to any of the clubs you have mentioned. Inside, in the Siyagobhoza section, there are different stories from different clubs.

Have a great weekend ladies and gentleman. It’s always nice hearing from you!
