Former Santos defender, Marvin Oakes, has joined struggling National First Division outfit, Blackburn Rovers, until the end of the season.
The 30-year-old, who recently returned to Mzansi following a spell in Mozambique with Clube Maxaquene, has signed with Rovers until the end of the season, as he attempts to stay in the league.
Blackburn haven’t won in their last 13 games, and will be hoping that a player of Oakes’ experience can make a difference going into their last four fixtures.
Oakes has played one game for Rovers since joining, the 2-1 defeat to Jomo Cosmos, though he will be keen to get a different result when they take on African Warriors in their next NFD game next month.
The defender, who can also play in midfield, spent time with both Santos and Manning Rangers in Mzansi before leaving for Mozambique in 2011.
Oakes will now be looking to get stuck into South African football once again and aid Rovers’ relegation woes.
