Polokwane City goalkeeper Modiri Marumo bagged the Man of the Match award for his stellar showing between the sticks in their 1-0 loss to Orlando Pirates on Wednesday night.
Marumo was crucial for the Premier Soccer League new boys as they looked to frustrate the Soweto giants but the shot-stopper was finally undone in the second-half by a Rooi Mahamutsa strike.
The goalkeeper congratulate their opponents for the win and praised his teammates for trying their best as they continue searching for their first point this season.
"Orlando Pirates is a big team and I would like to congratulate our guys, they tried their best. Unfortunately we couldn't manage to come up with a good result," he said.
The goalkeeper went in for a brave punch early in the game and said that his teammates gave him the encouragement to push on.
"It was a tough knock, and I had to soldier on. The guys were giving me courage when I was down and I did not want to disappoint them. So well done to Pirates, and good luck to us for our next game. I hope we will do well.
"We believe in ourselves. I think we have potential. our guys can do more, it's only at the moment that we are down. We lost our coach, and we wanted to give our coach a win today but we couldn't manage."
