Marques Upbeat For Ajax Clash

Moroka Swallows ended 2012 with a win, defeating Q2 winners Platinum Stars 2-0 at the Volkswagen Dobsonville Stadium.

After a poor run in the latter part of the season’s first half, Swallows managed to claim a morale boosting win over Dikwena ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations break. The Absa Premiership resumed this week and the Birds are looking to carry on from where they left off.

The three points eased the pressure on coach Zeca Marques and he is determined to start 2013 with a win when they take on Ajax Cape Town, who have also had a sluggish 2012/13 campaign to date.

Marques told the Siya crew that the break helped them work on their game, and in particular, the errors that were evident in the first half of the season.

"We will continue from where we left before the break. We did well after some poor results and we have to keep on fighting. We know Ajax are more or less in the same situation and we will have a tough encounter at our hands. We just have to remain positive and get as many points as we can," Marques expressed.

Swallows clinched the MTN8 earlier in the season and will now, sat in 11th place, be looking to claw their way up the log standings.
