Moroka Swallows coach Zeca Marques admits that you can’t afford to make mistakes against a team of Kaizer Chiefs’ calibre or you will be punished.
Goals from Kingston Nkhatha and Knowledge Musona saw Chiefs run out 2-0 winners over the Dube Birds on Friday night.
Speaking after the game, Marques commended his players for their overall performance on the night, but criticised the silly mistakes they made which cost them the game.
“You can’t ask more from the players, they gave everything tonight,” said Marques.
“Obviously we are disappointed because we lost the game.
“We made two silly mistakes. The first goal we were caught napping, we lost the ball in the middle of the field and the second goal we never won the tackle, and that was it, game set and match.
“Against a team like Kaizer Chiefs they are going to punish you, so we have to take the blame for this result because we made silly mistakes.
“I kept telling the players not to give the ball away in the middle of the park, and we did. And we have to win our tackles, especially in those crucial moments of the game and we didn’t.
“You get punished for your mistakes against a side like Chiefs, it is as simple as that.
“You have to give credit to Stuart Baxter, he has done a great job. You have to credit to the Chiefs players, they are working as a unit and doing a great job.”
