The Siya crew can reveal that Mark Mayambela has joined Royal Eagles in the National First Division on a short-term deal. Mayambela had been contracted to Djurgadens IF in Sweden, before returning to South Africa at the end of last year.
The skillful player did not return to Sweden after the Christmas break, despite still having a contract with them. The contract has since been terminated.
The former Orlando Pirates midfielder had been linked with different PSL clubs, including Bloemfontein Celtic and Chippa United, before penning a deal with the NFD side.
Ayanda Sigwili of Dynasty Sports, who claims to be representing the Khayelitsha-born player in this deal, confirmed that Mayambela's move to the KZN outfit has been completed.
“Basically, for the past few weeks I have been working on a possible overseas move for Mark. We’ve been in touch with a couple of clubs, people and stuff, you know. I won’t say much on that for now, because I’m working on something for him for the July transfer window.
"What I can tell you is that we have just signed a contract with Royal Eagles, today (Thursday). It’s for him to be there for the next four months. The player is in Durban at the moment, but he will be flying back to Cape Town shortly. The deal has been finalised and he will be flying back to Durban. I am the one representing Mark now,” said Sigwili.
