Chippa United’s Mark Mayambela has chosen the players who would feature in his five-a-side team.
Although two of the players in Mayambela’s selection have since passed away, the skillful player feels that they were the best and were both quite close to him.
The former Pirates midfielder would also have his brother Mihlali Mayambela, who is plying his trade overseas, feature in his star-studded team.
Mayambela revealed to Sportnet his best five-a-side team, and also advised aspiring young footballers on how to make it in professional football.
“My five-a-side (team) is consisted of players that are mostly my friends, and mostly the players that I've played with. In goals, I would have Senzo Meyiwa – the late Senzo Meyiwa. We played together at Pirates – great goalkeeper. I think he was in his prime before he passed on. To me, he will always be my number one,” said Mayambela.
“In my defence, I would have Cecil Lolo – also the late Cecil Lolo – great friend of mine, childhood friend and a brother. We spent a lot (of time together) and we shared a lot together. So, I'd have him as my defender,” he added.
