The PSL Permutations You Need To Know…

This weekend could finalise who will be playing in the Absa Premiership next season, with two of three results seeing the current top-flight side get the job done.
Maritzburg United won their first two games of the Premier Soccer League play-offs as they beat both Royal Eagles and Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila this month, and the fact that their opponents have both beaten each other has set up the Team of Choice nicely.
Saturday’s win for TTM means that Maritzburg need just a point from their final two games in order to book their spot in the 2019/20 Absa Premiership, but Eric Tinkler is adamant that they won’t be going out to Chatsworth Stadium aiming for a draw with Eagles.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Tinkler said, “In life there are no guarantees, hence the fact it’s still important for us to look to collect the three points against Eagles on Wednesday… Obviously the result on Saturday was very beneficial towards us, but at the same time it does not change our approach or our mindset.
“We want to collect the three points in order to guarantee our survival. It’s going to be a very tough game, they are a team that will have absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain. They’ll look to come at us, so structurally we need to be well organised, defensively.
“And we need to go there and be positive and play the brand of attacking football we know how to play.”

The club has reported that they have a clean bill of health for their vital clash at 15h00 on Wednesday, and Tinkler will be hoping to make it three wins in a row for the club for the first time since March 2018.
Meanwhile, TTM and Eagles both find themselves three points behind Maritzburg (on six points) going into the final two games of the play-offs, and would be relying on goal difference if they both manage to beat their top-flight opponents this week.
