Maritzburg United have had preliminary talks with Wits over a possible move to secure the services of winger, Bhongolwethu Jayiya. The 23-year-old was loaned out to Maritzburg in January, and went on to score four goals in 14 leagues appearances for the Team of Choice.
His addition to the squad was perhaps one of the major reasons why Maritzburg had such a resurgence under Steve Komphela in 2014. Jayiya seems to be hot property at the moment in the PSL. Ajax Cape Town are just one of the clubs said to be potentially interested in securing his services.
Nonetheless, after having spent a very good second half of the season at Maritzburg, it could be that the player might consider staying in Pietermaritzburg on a permanent basis.
United Team Manager, Quintin Jettoo, confirmed the club had held some basic discussions with Wits over Jayiya, however, he added that nothing concrete had been decided yet about any move.
Jettoo told the Siya crew, "I have had brief discussions with Jose Ferreira (Wits CEO) when we played them recently. There's been no final decision taken on the player. A lot of teams are interested in Jayiya as well, you know. I should be speaking to Jose again in the next couple of days about his future."
